Style Icons – The Like

nc efi placeholder

Music and fashion go together like publicists and red carpet, so for our second Guest Editorship we turned to a well-tuned trio—the gals from The Like—for their picks for fall. Tennessee, Charlotte, and Z took a break from the studio (they’re working on their second full-length album, look for it in Spring 2008!) to share their well-developed and playful sense of style with WhoWhatWearDaily.com. Today’s story features some of The Like’s favorite items this season and gives you a glimpse inside their marvellously eclectic closets.

Tennessee Thomas, 22, drummer

A self-confessed “dress girl,” Thomas balances her Forever 21 binges (“I go a bit crazy buying mini dresses there.”) with high-end, print dresses from designer friend Charles Anastase. Her one request is that her frocks have full skirts, to ensure modesty whilst at her drum kit. We got a kick out of learning that Thomas considers Marianne Faithful and Jane Banks—yes, the daughter in Mary Poppins—her style icons. Perhaps the latter explains why her next potential purchase is a pair of saddle shoes from Muffy’s. (muffys.com)

Elizabeth “Z” Berg, 21, vocals/guitar

We were insanely delighted when Berg threw out her recent fashion muse—Nikki Witt a.k.a. Brandon Walsh’s girlfriend on Beverly Hills 90210, circa 1992. “She wore these leotard-style crop tops and African print skirts,” Berg says. “I love her!” When not channeling the early 90’s, Berg loves her vintage store finds, like a Valentino animal print skirt and a muted plaid Alaia mini. She also is bonkers for the beautiful lingerie found at Kiki De Montparnasse and likes to appropriate her boyfriend’s oversized sweaters (the bigger, the better) for herself.

Charlotte Froom, 21, bass/vocals

Last, but certainly not least, we have Froom, maven of leg accoutrements. She’s got a premiere collection of internationally sourced, opaque thigh-high and full-length tights (in both basic solids and subtle patterns) and fantastic vintage boots galore. Froom’s sartorial independence is to be admired too, she declined to cite a specific person as her fashion inspiration, saying instead, “I just like certain attitudes.”
